About Rockleaze
Rockleaze House is an Edwardian guesthouse and family home in Filton, in the Bristol area. Full of period details and individual touches, it has a character all its own.
The house has welcomed a wide variety of guests over the years: people working nearby, visitors to Southmead Hospital, guests staying for the UWE campus, returning guests and those using Rockleaze as a base for the Bristol area.
Welcoming guests since 2001
Terry and Colleen Tovey have run Rockleaze since 2001, taking personal responsibility for both the house and the welcome their guests receive.
Terry spent his working life in aerospace engineering. His practical eye and enthusiasm for building have gone into maintaining and restoring the property. Colleen’s background is in nursing and the NHS, and she brings the same care and attention to the way Rockleaze is run.
Together they have updated the house without taking away the features that make it distinctive. Edwardian details sit alongside modern comforts and the occasional quirky touch accumulated over years of living in and caring for the building.
A personal place to stay
Rockleaze remains a home rather than a standardised hotel. The rooms differ in size, outlook and facilities, and Terry or Colleen can explain the available options when guests call.
From the upper floors there are views across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, with South Wales visible in the distance on a clear day.
The aim is simple: to offer clean, comfortable accommodation and a warm, helpful welcome. Many guests return when working in the Bristol area or visiting family, friends and local hospitals.
